About AMG
Acoustic Metamaterials Group Limited (AMG) is an innovation and technology company that utilises cutting-edge acoustic metamaterials technology to develop next-generation noise-control and audio products. As a new class of basic materials, acoustic metamaterials offer superior performance compared to conventional acoustic materials, driving innovation in how people interact with sound. AMG has achieved commercial applications of acoustic metamaterials across multiple industries, including consumer electronics such as speakers and smart wearable devices, construction noise control, architectural acoustics, electrical and mechanical systems, and home appliances.
We are seeking a Senior Engineer (Acoustic) to play a key role in the successful, timely completion of a complex government-funded development project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate advancements in acoustic metamaterials into practical, high-performance noise control solutions
- Define acoustic requirements and performance targets for related environments, including target bands, noise reduction KPIs, and integration constraints
- Design noise mitigation solutions and key components that effectively leverage metamaterial behaviours
- Convert metamaterial performance characteristics into component- and system-level designs
- Model, predict, and optimise acoustic performance using appropriate simulation and analysis methods, and use results to drive design iteration and decisions
- Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders (project team, engineers, manufacturing, external collaborators) to ensure end-to-end solution performance
- Plan and support prototype evaluation and performance verification, including defining test objectives and correlating measured results with design predictions to refine solutions
- Ensure designs and deliverables align with relevant acoustic standards, regulations, and customer requirements, and support compliance documentation as required
- Prepare clear technical documentation and progress updates to support project reviews, decision-making, and delivery milestones
Job Requirement:
- Postgraduate degree or higher in Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline; experience integrating advanced acoustic materials (including metamaterials) into products/solutions is an advantage.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in acoustic design and analysis, preferably in noise control, architectural acoustics, or acoustics for built environments.
- Strong understanding of applied acoustics and noise control engineering, with the ability to translate requirements into component-level acoustic designs and measurable performance targets.
- Demonstrated experience designing noise mitigation solutions and components such as acoustic panels, silencers, enclosures, baffles, and related elements for real environments
- Proficiency in acoustic simulation and analysis tools and workflows to predict performance and guide design decisions
- Strong knowledge in solutions for noise remediation and architectural acoustics, with practical work site experience
- Demonstrated expertise in acoustic measurement techniques and relevant instrumentation/methodology for noise and vibration assessments; practical testing experience is an advantage
- Practical experience in acoustic metamaterials for noise-control applications would be preferred.
- Working knowledge of relevant acoustic standards, regulations, and compliance expectations applicable to building/industrial noise control solutions, with experience supporting documentation and technical justifications.
- Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams (project team, engineers, manufacturing, external collaborators) to deliver solution performance and compliance outcomes.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical updates and reports and communicate progress and results to management.
This opportunity is offered on a one-year renewable contract basis, subject to performance and business needs. The employment is ideally scheduled to commence in May 2026.
